SUKKUR: Two policemen killed, another injured

SUKKUR, Aug 5: Two policemen were killed and another sustained injuries when a group of bandits fired on them on the National Highway near Ghotki early on Saturday morning.

Reports reaching here said that a group of armed dacoits were busy robbing the passengers of a bus when a police mobile arrived. The sight of police panicked the bandits and they resorted to firing on the police vehicle to clear their way to flee.

As a result, the mobile driver, Constable Manzoor Shah and Head Constable Abdul Rehman Jiskani were killed on the spot while another constable, Niaz Pathan, sustained serious wounds.

Later, the injured constable was shifted to taluka hospital, Ghotki and a heavy contingent of police led by the DPO of Ghotki went after the fleeing dacoits but there were no reports of any arrest by the time this report was filed.
