HYDERABAD: Rain, power outages cripple several districts of Sindh
The power breakdown crippled all life activities as office-goers, businessmen and traders preferred to stay at homes.
There were reports of power suspension at sewerage pumping stations and water reservoirs.
In Hyderabad, the sky remained heavily overcast and there were chances of further rain.
The Met office said that it did not rain at the airport. However, the rainwater accumulated on several roads of the city.
Residents of Hussainabad blocked the Hyderabad-Kotri road in protest against suspension of electricity.
They said that they remained without power supply and no body took notice of it. They blocked the road and lit bonfire.
The flow of traffic remained suspended for few hours.
KHAIRPUR: Heavy rain hit Khairpur and its adjoining areas for three hours on Monday. The rain damaged several houses, shops and crops in the area.
Four talukas — Khairpur, Kingri, Kotdiji and Nara — were plunged into darkness as electricity went off with the first drop of rain.
In Khairpur city, drainage and water supply system were collapsed due to suspension of power.
Many wedding ceremonies and other functions were also postponed because of power outage.
SANGHAR: The entire district and its adjoining towns received rain.
In Sanghar, Shahdadpur, Tando Adam, Jhol and Sinjhoro drainage network was completely collapsed.
The rain water was accumulated on roads and streets and people had to wade through filthy water.
At many places, it has seeped into the drinking water supply lines. It was raining till the filing of this report.
NAWABSHAH: Nawabshah city and its adjoining towns Daur, Bandhi, Jam Saheb, 60-miles, Buchheri and Sakrand received rain.
The electric supply remained discontinued in different parts.
The rainwater accumulated in low-lying areas and main roads which has disturbed the normal routine life.
MIRPURKHAS: Intermittent rain continued on Monday in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts.
Low-lying areas have been inundated under knee-deep water and business activities were suspended.
The power supply was suspended in parts of the city and other towns, affecting water supply.
Attendance of staff in government departments remained thin due to intermittent rain.
Over 300 telephones went out of order due to faults in cable.
The areas which received are: Mirwah, Mirpurkhas, Digri, Tando Jan Mohammed, Jhuddo, Naukot, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Kunri, Samaro, Umerkot, Pithoro, Shadi Palli, Sufi Faqeer, Sindhri, Mithi, Diplo, Chhachhro, Islamkot and Nagarparkar.
