DADU: 20 villages in Dadu, Jamshoro flooded
DADU, Aug 7: About 20 villages and crops over hundreds of acres on boath sides of the Indus river in Dadu and Jamshoro districts came under water on Monday. The flooded villages are: Saeendad Ja Bhan, Bachayo Khushik, Wazir Khushik, Fareed Khushik, Dana Chandio, Jhallo, Korejo and Shahani.
Cotton crop over 500 acres was inundated in KT Jatoi.
While the KT Khushik, KT Khero and KT Shahani also were flooded along the right and left side of the Indus river.
The chief engineer of the Sukkur barrage, Agha Aijaz Ahmed, said that a low- intensity flood was passing between the Sukkur barrage and Kotri barrage.
He said that the water level in the river at upstream of the barrage was 217,000 while downstream inflow was 180,000.
He said that between Sukkur and Kotri four points were vulnerable which were J-spur of the Dadu-Moro bridge, Mad, Bhanoth Bund and Bakhri.
He said that the Indus river was putting pressure at the points but the situation was under control.
NAI GAJ: About 200 villages were disconnected from the Johi taluka headquarter due to rainwater in Nai Gaj.
Villagers including Mir Mohammad Ranjhani, Naseer, Mujahid and Shah Mohammad, residents of Chhinni, were taken away by Nai Gaj water near the FP Bund when they were crossing the river.
Local people fished out them through boats.
Irrigation engineer Shafqat Wadho said that water level of the Manchhar lake was rising and it was recorded at 110.3RL on Monday.
NAI BARAN: Following heavy rain, water has come into Nai Baran in Kotri taluka.
The rain water entered 100 houses of Khursheed colony, Babar chowk, Bhittai colony and Pakhtoon colony and 10 houses were collapsed.
Due to collapse of roof of one Rafique Pathan in Khursheed colony and four family members Sheeba, Gul Bibi, Amjad and Rafique were injured.
The water also entered police check post of Khuda Ji Basti and the main school.
The water was gushing towards Bandhi Khaskheli, Ali Bux and Saeed Khan villages of in Kotri taluka.
District naib nazim Hameed Buledi, Kotri taluka nazim Abdul Rehman and Kotri TMO Shahabuddin Memon visited spot.
BREACH: A 30-foot wide breach occurred in Tatri Shakh originating from the Dadu canal near Radhan town on Sunday night.
About 300 acres paddy crop and five fish ponds were flooded.
Irrigation officials and farmers plugged the breach on Monday morning.
