HYDERABAD: Protest against Dow varsity’s admission policy

HYDERABAD, Aug 11: A large number of students held a demonstration outside the press club on Friday in protest against admission policy of the Dow Medical University.

The demonstration was organised by the Sindhi Shagird Tehrik.

The protesters said that the university had decided that only those candidates would be given admission to the Dow Medical College and the Sindh Medical College whose fathers were domiciled in Karachi.

They said that with the new policy many candidates whose fathers belonged to other districts of Sindh but they themselves were domiciled in Karachi would be deprived of admission.

The protesters condemned the admission policy in all educational institutions of Karachi and non-employment of Sindhis in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpurkhas.

SST leader Javed Rajpar said that under a planned conspiracy, Sindhi students were being denied admission to educational institutions of Karachi.

He said that doors of employment had already been closed for Sindhis in all organisations and departments.

He demanded that admission should be given on the basis of candidate’s domicile instead of his or her father’s in all educational institutions of Karachi including the Dow Medical University.
