SUKKUR: Probe into fake degrees scam ordered

SUKKUR, Aug 21: The district police officer (DPO) has ordered an inquiry into the recently unearthed scam of bogus degrees and domiciles. Police arrested an accused belonging to Punjab, who was in possession of fake degrees, domiciles and stamps of many government officers.

On Sunday, the Abad police on a tip off arrested an accused Mudasar, son of Ghulam Murtaza, resident of Chak-21 Mohammad Nawaz Wala, Sadiqabad, Punjab. He is accused of helping the youth in Punjab to get employment in Sindh through fake degrees, domiciles and letters of Sindh government officers.

Police sources said that recently the Airport Security Force had conducted tests/ interviews for jobs. During the recruitment process, they found some fake degrees and domiciles. When the candidate concerned investigated, he told them about the accused.

The ASF authorities informed the police that they raided a local hotel and arrested accused Mudasar and recovered fake degrees, domiciles and stamps of many Sindh government officers.

DEMO: Hundreds of villagers staged a demonstration and held a sit-in on the Thull-Kandhkot road, near Thull on Monday.

They were protesting non-arrest of the killers of primary teacher Ali Gohar Sarki.

According to reports reaching here, hundreds of people of village Ghulam Mohammad Sarki led by Mohammad Bux Sarki and Malhar Sarki staged a demonstration and blocked the Thull-Kandhkot road for 10 hours, suspending traffic to and from Thull, Kandhkot, Jacobabad and other areas.

Protestors were raising slogans against police for their failure in arresting the people involved in the killing of the teacher.

Thull TPO Masroor Jatoi with a police party rushed to the spot, negotiated with the protesters and asked them to end the blockade, but they refused.

The protest was ended on the assurance of some influential people of the area.

They assured the demonstrators that the culprits would be arrested within 24 hours.
