Plan to clear choked gutters in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD, Sept 19: The Hyderabad district government is obtaining jetting machines from the Karachi city district government in order to clear choked gutter lines in areas of Latifabad and Qasimabad talukas where water has receded.

The level of water has receded significantly in parts of Latifabad but choked gutter lines and slime and slush in localities are causing problems.

Wasa officials said that sewers were choked because of plastic bags and other garbage for water had remained accumulated in the areas for more than 10 days.

Sanitary workers of the Latifabad TMA were facing problems in clearing sewerage lines manually and for that reason they needed jetting machines which were being obtained from the Karachi CDG.

LOW-LAYING AREAS: Knee-deep water is still stagnating in low-laying areas of the city.

These areas are: Latifabad-2, Marvi town, Sachalabad, Lashari and Gulab Channa and Qasim Shoro, Haji Jam Shoro and villages in Qasimabad taluaka.

The areas are located along the Bachao Bund of the Indus river.

Poor sanitary conditions prevailed in Ayub colony, Khuda Hafiz board, Bilal mosque area, streets Latifabad-2, 8 and 9.

The roads are littered with garbage, plastic bags and mud, causing problems for pedestrians.
