SWABI, Sept 22: The federal government is spending Rs350 million on different projects in Swabi district.

“The cost of laying a gas line from the district headquarters to Razar region was initially estimated at Rs100 million but I retuned that and another estimate said it would cost Rs200 million,” Political Affairs Minister Amir Muqam said here on Thursday.

He said he had talked with officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines, who would start work on laying a pipeline from Swabi Adda to Tarraki House via Shewa Adda.

“We have allocated Rs50 million for electricity supply to different areas in the district,” he said. He said the Rs100 development fund announced by President Pervez Musharraf during his visit to the area in January had been released to the district government.

He said there would loadshedding for short duration during Ramazan and no loadshedding in peak hours.

He said the feasibility report for the extension of Pehur High Level Canal had been finalised and funds for the project had been allocated in the Annual Development Programme.
