DG Khan blast claims 2 lives

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 23: Two persons died and 25 suffered injuries when a powerful ‘bomb’ went off in a cattle market here on Saturday. Seven goats also perished. The explosive device mounted on a bicycle went off in the cattle market adjacent to the general bus stand at 10:45am. Sharif, 60, and Riyaz Hussain, 8, died on the spot.

The injured were taken to the DHQ hospital where condition of three — Khadim, Allahdad and Arshad — was stated to be serious.

The officer in charge of the bomb disposal squad said that it was a home-made device and was different from the bombs used in 17 explosions in the district during the last 20 months.

Senator Jamal Leghari, MPAs Aleem Shah and Zeenat Khan, and district naib nazim Dost Mohammed Khosa visited the emergency ward to take stock of the efforts made by the medical staff regarding the treatment of injured.
