Hyderabad go down fighting to Faisalabad
LAHORE, Sept 30: Despite a gallant century by Zeeshan Gul and half-centuries from Mohammad Noor and Mir Ali Talpur, Hyderabad suffered a nine-wicket defeat against Faisalabad in the three-day PCB Inter-region Under-19 Cricket Championship at the Iqbal Stadium on Saturday.
Zeeshan hit 109 with 10 fours and one six to give the visitors some hope after they started the day at 125-2 in the second innings.
Hyderabad avoided an innings defeat by reaching 335. Faisalabad needed just 20 for victory and reeled off the runs in 3.4 overs for the loss of one wicket.
Besides Zeeshan, Noor scored 63 with seven fours and one six while Mir Ali made 50 with four sixes and as many boundaries.
Faisalabad’s leg-spinner Shoaib Shah took five for 90 and finished with a match bag of 10 for 119.
Lahore Ravi held Sialkot to a draw at the LCCA ground. The hosts, however, earned three points for obtaining lead in the first innings.
The match between Multan and Lahore Shalimar also ended in draw at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

APP adds: Karachi Urban secured three points after their game against Rawalpindi ended in a tame draw at PCB Academy Ground in Karachi.
Rawalpindi were 265 for seven wickets in their second innings when the match was called off early.
Umar Amin made a fine 71 with nine boundaries and Osama Niazi hit 48. Asad Zahid finished unbeaten on 71 laced with five fours and a six.
Earlier, responding to Rawalpindi’s first innings total of 213, Karachi Urban piled-up 340 for eight to gain a 127-run.
Left handed Shan Masood hammered a brilliant 126 with 13 boundaries and a six while Fazal Subhan cracked 68 with 11 hits to the boundary. Shan and Fazal added 103 for the third wicket.

In Peshawar, the hosts took first innings points against Karachi Harbour at the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium.
Peshawar made 220 in response to the Harbour’s first-innings total of 137.
However, Karachi Harbour fought well in the second knock to pile up scored 313 for six after being reduced to 22 for four at one stage.
Ali Jawwad and Yasir Hussain both blasted centuries.
