NAWABSHAH: Woman set on fire by father-in-law

NAWABSHAH, Oct 6: A woman was set on fire by her father-in-law in the Punhal Jamali village near Sakrand town on Friday.

She was identified as Parveen, 22, wife of Ali Madad Jamali.

The woman’s father-in-law Umeed Ali Jamali sprinkled kerosene on her and set here on fire.

He escaped after committing the crime.

She was admitted to the surgical-II ward of the hospital.

Doctors said that she was out of danger but her face was badly bruised.

The victim told newsmen that she was in her home when her father-in-law came there.

She said that when she started screaming for help her husband threw water on her and put out the fire.

She said that after that her husband also escaped and she was taken to her parent’s house by neighbours.

She said that her father-in-law disliked her and used to torture her.

No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.

District Nazim Faryal Talpur, MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio and PPP city president Ziaul Hassan Lanjar visited the victim at the hospital. They directed doctors and officials to provide all possible medical facilities to her. Ms Talpur announced Rs10,000 cash for the victim and free medical treatment.
