HARIPUR: Man killed on court premises

HARIPUR, Oct 7: A man was killed and two others were seriously injured when a ‘hired assassin’ opened fire on them outside the district courts here on Saturday, police said.

However, the accused was caught by a head constable.

Witnesses and police said that one Liaquat, a resident of village Khidoo, had come to attend the hearing of a murder case when the accused opened fire on him killing him on the spot.

Two other people, including a relative of Liaquat, were injured in the shooting.

The accused, Tanasib Khan, confessed to his crime and told the police that Liaquat had murdered his cousin Sajid.

However, police said that Tanasib was a hired assassin wanted by the Punjab and NWFP police for his involvement in several criminal cases.
