SUKKUR: USAID team meets nazims and councillors

SUKKUR, Oct 17: A team of the United States Agency for International Development comprising programme director Michael Sinclair and technical advisor Scott Gibbons met with taluka and union council nazims of the district at the DCO office on Tuesday.

The team discussed matters pertaining to the management of health and education departments and community development.

The nazims stressed the need for reactivating school management committees in an effective manner.

BENEVOLENT FUND: The District Benevolent Fund Board approved 341 cases of various categories at a meeting chaired by District Coordination Officer Shafique Ahmed Khoso at his office on Tuesday.

According to an official handout, the board approved 154 monthly cases, 84 cases of funeral expenses, 74 of marriage ceremonies and 29 of prolonged illness of serving and retired government employees, and rejected 33 applications.

BEAUTIFICATION: The district government was spending Rs3.1 million on carrying out several development and beautification projects in the city, said an official handout issued on Tuesday.

District Coordination Officer Shafique Ahmed Khoso said that Rs1.7 million would be spent on fitting iron grills around the walking track near Circuit House, and lavatory block, Rs0.5 million on the beautification of a roundabout near Ayub Gate at the Station Road and Rs0.9 million on the repairs and beautification of a footpath and a drain from Zero Point to Lab-e-Mehran alongside Military Road.
