HYDERABAD: Palijo demands reinstatement of officers
HYDERABAD, Oct 22: The chief of Awami Tahreek, Rasool Bux Palijo, has demanded that the government should reinstate the 122 Sindhi officers of the water management project it had reportedly dismissed without giving any prior notice or reason.
In a statement issued on Saturday, he termed the step as illegal and immoral and charged that the government had in collusion with the vested interests deprived 122 families, about 1000 persons, of their only source of livelihood.
He said that the dismissal was the latest example of a long series of injustices meted out to the province. All these measures were aimed at pushing the 40 million people of Sindh against the wall, he charged.
Mr Palijo said that the dismissed officers were appointed on contract basis for three years and had got an extension of three years more. They included deputy director, assistant director and officers of the water management project, he added.
ROBBERY: A gang of highwaymen looted the passengers of different vehicles after blocking the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas Road on Sunday morning.
Reports said that eight armed bandits blocked the road and deprived the passengers of cash, ornaments, mobile phones.
