CHARSADDA: Karzai greets Pukhtuns on Eid

CHARSADDA, Oct 27: Afghan President Hamid Karzai has greeted the Pukhtuns on Eidul Fitr. In a letter sent to Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan in Charsadda, he expressed his goodwill for the people of NWFP.

According to a press release issued by the ANP on Friday, Mr Karzai mentioned his government’s efforts for peace and prosperity in the region.

He condoled the death of ANP leader Khan Abdul Wali Khan and prayed for him.

Asfandyar Wali assured the Afghan president of his support to the peace process in the region and stressed the need for joint efforts to curb extremism and fundamentalism.

He said Afghan people deserved a peaceful and prosperous life.

He expressed the hope that both Pakistan and Afghanistan would work jointly through the proposed jirga for peace and stability in the region.
