Bugti’s son backs ‘resistance’

QUETTA, Oct 29: Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, the eldest son of Nawab Akbar Bugti has said he supports ‘the resistance movement of Baloch people’ against government oppression. He has also criticised Jamhoori Watan Party legislators for not resigning from parliament ‘under pressure of the Quetta corps commander.’

Speaking at a press conference at the residence of former Balochistan chief minister Mir Humayun Marri on Sunday, Jamil Bugti reiterated his father’s call for a single Baloch nationalist party to protect the resources of Balochistan and its coasts. Answering a question, he said he had decided to join politics.

Answering another question, he said only ‘shameless’ Baloch people would oppose the ongoing resistance movement against the ‘attacking’ forces. He said that the ‘fighters on the mountains’ were waging a war for the Baloch people and “it is the responsibility of every Baloch to support them according to his capability.”

He said that the father of JWP MPA Mumtaz Shah had told him in the presence of a dozen people that he was coming from the office of the Quetta corps commander who had warned him against his son quitting the Balochistan Assembly.

Jamil Bugti said the revelation proved that the army commander was forcing the JWP legislators to follow the dictation of the GHQ. He added that the “conspirators who have recently resigned from the JWP are misguiding the people that they will resign from assemblies after such a decision is made by the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy.”

He said that the resignation of JWP office-bearers was a drama aimed at misleading the workers and sympathisers of the party and predicted that they would rejoin the party in a few days.

Jamil Bugti thanked the legislators of the Balochistan National Party for quitting the assemblies in protest against Nawab Akbar Bugti’s killing.
