Gen Fazal Muqeem dies

RAWALPINDI, Feb 15: Gen (Rtd) Fazal Muqeem Khan, one of the founding fathers of Pakistan Army, died in Rawalpindi on Friday at 3pm. He was 88.

During his carrier, Gen Muqeem served as the general officer commanding (GOC), East Pakistan, during the 1965 war. He also served as Chairman of Pakistan Ordnance Factory, defence secretary, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and first commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy.

He wrote many books including Story of the Pakistan Army, Crisis in Pakistan’s Leadership, Pakistani Youth at the Cross Roads and Sipah-i-Salars of Islam.

His funeral prayers will be held at the Army Graveyard near Racecourse Ground, at 11am on Saturday.

Qul will be held on Sunday at 11am at his House No: 168-D-Adamjee Road, Rawalpindi.
