DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Rights bill conforms to Shariat: Sherpao
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Nov 26: Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that it will be premature to say if legislators of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will resign from parliament over the Women Protection Bill issue.
“To say at this point that MMA members will resign on Dec 7 will be premature. Let us see what happens because the next day will be Dec 8 and the position will be clear by then,” Mr Sherpao said.
He was talking to journalists at the marriage ceremony of PPP (Sherpao) MPA Sardar Israrullah Khan Gandapur at his residence in Kulachi, 45 kilometres off here on Sunday.
The Women Protection Bill was in consonance with the Shariah, he said and added: "Nobody can dare make changes in the Islamic law.”
He said political parties’ leaders had been barred from entering or holding rallies in the Bajaur Agency and any violation of the ban would be tantamount to the violation of law and Constitution.
On the Balochistan situation, he said the military operation there was being conducted to eliminate those who were trying to damage public property and disrupt law and order.
