PHF officials to face Senate committee

LAHORE, Dec 5: President and secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will appear before the Senate Standing Committee on Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism at Parliament House, Islamabad on Friday.

The newly elected PHF president Zafarullah Khan Jamali and secretary Akhtarul Islam will brief the committee about their plans which they have prepared to improve the game in the country.

The performance of Pakistan in international hockey has been declining since 1994 when Pakistan last achieved back-to-back titles in World Cup and Champions Trophy. But after that the game saw various setbacks, despite a lot of changes in the team management and in the PHF hierarchy .

It is likely the PHF president and secretary will face hard questions from the senators belonging to the opposition to satisfy them how they can improve the game as they, (Jamali) as chief selector and

Akhtarul Islam) as a member of the selection committee had failed to deliver in the past.
