LARKANA: Call for global alliance against imperialism
LARKANA, Jan 5: The 79th birthday anniversary of the founder of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) celebrated separately by PPP-Parliamentarians and PPP-Shaheed Bhutto on Friday echoed optimism by the former that their leader would become prime minister for the third time and demands by the latter’s leader for a global alliance against capitalists and imperialists.
PPPP leaders said while speaking at a function jointly organised by Senator Dr. Safdar Abbasi and MPA Haji Munwar Ali Abbasi in Waleed village that no one could stop Ms Benazir Bhutto from returning to her homeland.
While the chairperson of PPP-SB Ghinwa Bhutto stressed that the formation of a grand alliance at world level against capitalists and imperialists was the need of the hour. She was addressing birthday anniversary celebrations of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto at Al-Murtaza House.
She said that it was high time people attacked the US politically in response to the so called lone superpower’s attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq.
People had now divided into two parties - the masses party and the rulers party, she said adding that a ‘third world war’ loomed large between people and rulers.
She blamed America, which she said had a history of cruelties and killings, for destroying civilisation and said that “We have deep roots in history.
“We don’t want Bush’s kind of democracy, which he has gifted to the people of Afghanistan and Iraq, and we want to keep him (Bush) at an arm’s length,” she said.
“We have our own democracy and charter of human rights,” she said adding that “We are with Americans but not with Mr. Bush”.
Without naming any she said that many had made attempts to take possession of Al-Murtaza House and admitted that the party stood divided but people were still there to carry forward Bhutto’s mission.
Referring to Z. A. Bhutto’s ‘Myth of Independence’ wrote 40 years ago she said that his vision about independence held true even up to this day.
Ms. Ghinwa said that the day would come when people’s honour and human rights would be safeguarded in the country. Pointing towards her son, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Junior, she asked people to pray for them to be able to shoulder future responsibilities.
She termed internal elections within political parties ‘a must’ for democracy and said while making an apparent allusion to Ms Benazir Bhutto “do not look towards others to help you in elections”.
She said that no agency, general or wadera would be able to dictate or rule people when they were united.
Later, party leaders and workers showered gifts on Ms Ghinwa, her mother and Zulfiqar Junior after a cake weighing 79 pounds was cut.
In a separate function in Waleed village PPPP leaders reiterated their resolve to keep up the party’s fight against dictators and said that they were sure their leader Ms Benazir Bhutto would return and become prime minister for the third time. They said that late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was not only visionary leader but also a man of courage and commitment. He (ZAB) commanded hearts when he was alive and still ruled them after his death. He taught people how to live with ones’ head high and die rather than bow to the tyrants and dictators, they said.
