DERA ISMAIL KHAN: President to visit D.I. Khan today
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 5: Arrangements have been finalised for the visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to Dera Ismail Khan district today (Saturday). A meeting held here on Friday reviewed arrangements for the president’s visit, officials said. The meeting was attended by intelligence officials, Dera Ismail Khan DIG Masood Afridi, DPO Abdur Rashid, DCO Khudadad Mahsud, District Nazim Abdur Rauf, Federal Minister Amir Muqam and Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan.
President Musharraf is scheduled to address a public meeting at the Ratta Kulachi ground.
APP adds: Federal Minister for Political Affairs and NWFP PML president Amir Muqam said on Friday that a record number of development projects had been completed all over the country.
These mega-projects initiated under the leadership of President Gen Pervez Musharraf marked an unparalleled surge in development activity in the country’s history, he told a meeting of councillors and union nazims at Wapda Rest House.
The minister said that the government was utilising all its resources for accelerated development in the fields of education, health, natural gas, clean water and construction of roads.
He said that people had complete confidence and trust in the policies of the government and they cannot be misled by hollow slogans of the opposition. “People want to see continued progress and development of the country.”
The federal minister said that political groups that got votes in the name of Islam failed to deliver and people in D.I. Khan were disappointed by the poor performance of people running the province.
Senator Waqar Ahmad, MPA Murid Kazi, Ex-MNA Umar Farooq Khan Mian Khel, Ex-MPA Sanaullah Khan Mian Khel, Ex-MPA Haleem Khan Qasuria, Ikram Khan Gandapur, President of youth wing of provincial PML Ajmal Khan were also present.
