HYDERABAD: SCA seeks withdrawal of notification

HYDERABAD, Jan 7: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA) demanded on Sunday that the government take back its notification on withdrawal of payment of premium on sugarcane.

An SCA meeting chaired by Mir Murad Ali Khan strongly protested against the decision and appealed to growers to launch a joint struggle against the arbitrary notification issued under instructions of the prime minister.

The chamber said that it was an unjust decision and should be rescinded immediately. The growers’ problems were increasing each day, it said and added the provincial adviser on agriculture to visit the chamber's secretariat as soon as possible to hear their grievances.

The meeting urged the adviser to reactivate the organisations which were engaged in research on different aspects of agriculture and demanded immediate appointment of a representative of Sindh on NEPRA. The seat had fallen vacant after the retirement of Sindh's representative Fazalullah Qureshi.

Anwar Bachani, Qazi Abdul Majeed, Dr. Shahnawaz Shah, Mohammad Khan Sarejo and Nabi Bux Sathyo attended the meeting.
