HYDERABAD: Prices of milk by-products not reduced

HYDERABAD, Jan 11: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has taken notice of no reduction in the prices of milk by-products despite a reduction in milk price to previous level.

He had directed the district price control committee and the revenue department to take measures to reduce the prices of yoghurt, tea and other by-products of milk, district government sources told Dawn on Thursday.

With an increase in milk price about a week ago, the prices of milk by-products, particularly tea, were also increased. Following negotiations between the district government and the milk-sellers on Tuesday, the latter had reduced milk price to the previous rate of Rs28 per litre.

However, the prices of its by-products have not been reduced accordingly.

On complaints from the consumers, the district nazim has directed the committee members and revenue officials to launch an operation against the profiteers by paying surprise visits to hotels and milk shops.

TRANSFERS: The district nazim has directed the EDO education to issue show-cause notices to an ADEO, headmistress and supervisor and transfer orders of the absentee teachers of the APWA Girls Primary School, Latifabad-8.

The action has been taken on the report of the district education monitoring committee, headed by Mukhtar Yousuf, which paid a surprise visit to the school and noted absence of some teachers. The headmistress could not satisfy the committee about absence of the teachers.

The nazim has also directed the Latifabad TMO to launch a campaign against stray dogs which were found roaming about in the school compound.

He regretted that some teachers were behaving in an irresponsible manner and warned that no leniency would be observed with them.
