THATTA: Services of archaeologist eulogised

THATTA, Jan 15: Participants of a meeting organized by Sindhi Adabi Sangat, SAB, paid rich tributes to late Haji Abdullah Gandhro, an archaeologist, writer and intellectual for his unparallel services on the subjects, here at Makli, on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohammad Ali Manjhi, Adam Gandhro, Naveed Kehar, Hajan Solangi and others, said Abdullah Gandhro was an institution and faced enormous hurdles, problems and threats while collecting and preserving relics, manuscripts, rare pre-historic material and books from the ruins of archaeological sites at Makli.

His unforgettable academic services will always be remembered and become part of history, they contended.

INQUIRY: An inquiry has been initiated by fisheries department for sprinkling poison in upper K.B.Feeder at RD-2.5 by miscreants to spoil the fish and other water species, here on Monday.

The feeder water turned brackish and become unfit for human consumption after the incident.
