Two bikers create panic in Narowal

NAROWAL, Jan 15: Police have failed to trace the two motorcyclists who have been robbing the people for the last two months.

It is learnt that the youths, riding a Honda 125 motorcycle, have created panic among the residents of Narowal and its surrounding areas as they have committed more than a dozen robberies so far. Police have so far registered only two FIRs while a number of applications for registration of cases have been awaiting action.

Recently-married Sohail Akbar, a resident of Bubak Marali village in the jurisdiction of Saddar police told this correspondent on Monday that he was coming to Narowal by his motorcycle along with his wife in the afternoon when two youth on a Honda 125 motorcycle intercepted them and snatched two mobile phones, gold ornaments worth Rs150,000 and Rs8,000 in cash at gunpoint.

He said he had reported the incident to the police but no case has so far been registered.

Irfan Ali, a local journalist said he was also intercepted by Honda-riding youths in Miran Shah Husain locality a few days ago when he was going to his home. They snatched his mobile phone worth Rs15,000 and Rs4,000 in cash at gunpoint, he added.

Muhammad Sarwar, a clerk in the Shahgarib Rural Health Center, said he was going to the center carrying Rs150,000 for payment of salaries to the staff when the motorcyclists snatched the amount from him at gunpoint.

Many other such incidents have also been reported from the Circular Road, Eidgah Road and Ganj Husainabad locality.

HOUSE ROBBERY: Meanwhile, Four robbers looted the house of a lawyer on Saturday night in Ghousia locality here.

Advocate Arif Nasim told police that the robbers entered his house by scaling the boundary wall and snatched cash and gold ornaments worth Rs125,000 at gunpoint.
