HYDERABAD: MUET awards 7th PhD
HYDERABAD, Jan 24: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, has awarded its 7th PhD to Dr Khalilur Rehman Dayo, whose research in the field of telecommunication was supervised by Prof Abdul Qadeer Khan Rajput and Dr Bhawani Shankar Choudhry.
According to a university spokesman, Mr Dayo was registered in 2002 under the first indigenous PhD programme sponsored by the Higher Education Commission.
His thesis was evaluated by two professors of the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, which ranks among the top 10 technological universities in the world.
The Mehran University had now awarded the highest number of PhD degrees among the engineering universities in the country, the spokesman said.
BOOK FAIR: A three-day book fair organised by the Islami Jamiat-i-Tuleba, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences unit, at the OPD of Civil Hospital, Hyderabad, was inaugurated by LUMHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Jan Mohammad Memon on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Memon said the students should concentrate on science subjects for the development of the country and the society.
RESULTS: The controller of examinations, LUMHS, Jamshoro, has announced the results of Diploma in Psychiatric Medicine, part-II; Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics; and Diploma in Medical Radio-Diagnosis, part-I.
All the nine candidates appearing in the Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics examination failed.
SINDH UNIVERSITY: University of Sindh Registrar Mohammad Saleh Rajar has notified that classes for new session of MSc criminology will now be conducted at Allama I.I. Kazi campus, Jamshoro.
The classes were earlier held at Elsa Kazi campus in Hyderabad.
The registrar also notified that the university would remain closed on Jan 29 and 30 due to Ashura.
Meanwhile, the university has extended the date for admissions to affiliated degree colleges for bachelors and masters degree programmes till Feb 15.
