THATTA: MNA slams police action against pml office-bearer

THATTA, Feb 8: The Pakistan Muslim League (PML) MNA Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Shirazi on Thursday criticised police action against PML taluka president Abdul Latif Khatti, his relatives and haris, and demanded inquiry into the police conduct.

Mr Shirazi charged that seven policemen in plainclothes including Ali Bux Shar, Hyder Babar and Khan Mohammad Panhwar stormed Mr Khatti’s shop in Mirpur Bathoro town on February 6, dragged him out, manhandled his servants and left in a district police squad vehicle after snatching over Rs50,000.

Again, a police party led by DSP Mujahid Shah raided Mr Khatti’s agriculture farm, tortured his haris on charges of cultivating "Bhang" and left after a while after finding nothing to substantiate their charge, he claimed.

He said that Mr Khatti had sent petitions to President Gen Pervez Musharraf, prime minister, chief minister Sindh and chief justice of Sindh High Court to seek justice.

According to reports, the PML has given a strike call for Friday to protest against police action against Mr Khatti.
