Six rockets found near Skardu
SKARDU, Feb 13: Law-enforcement agencies on Tuesday foiled what appeared to be a terror plot and seized six rockets near the site of multi-purpose Sadpara dam project.
Speaking at a press conference, acting station commander of the 52-Brigade, Skardu, and two senior officials of a sensitive agency said the rockets were found buried under stones on the foothills, about 2.5 kilometres off the Sadpara lake, one of the famous tourist spots in Baltistan.
The army cordoned off the area and took local journalists to the spot.
Four of the 120mm rockets capable of causing destruction on a large scale were live and two were rusted which were later defused.
They said the rockets might have been brought in for a possible terrorist attack during Muharram, but the terrorists could not carry out their plan due to strict security measures taken for Ashura.
They ruled out the role and involvement of local people in the possible terror plan.
