HYDERABAD: SDF proposals

HYDERABAD, March 6: The Sindh Democratic Forum (SDF) has proposed a number of amendments to the 1973 constitution aimed at ensuring restoration of provincial autonomy to all the federating units.

The forum’s convenor Abrar Qazi proposed at a news conference at the press club on Monday night that the government should make incremental amendments to the constitution in accordance with the spirit of 1940 Pakistan Resolution to make the federating units autonomous and sovereign.

Flanked by SDF leaders Dr Nazeer Shaikh and Nazeer Memon he said that all the decisions about inter-provincial affairs should be taken through consensus and not through majority vote and likewise the decisions about the affairs of federation should be made subject to the approval of Senate, which should be made guardian of the federation with more powers.
