Strict security for PM’s Attock visit

ATTOCK, March 8: Nearly 2,000 law enforcement personnel have been deputed for security arrangements for Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s visit on Friday to inaugurate two projects and address a public meeting, it was learnt.

The prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate the construction work at the Chacch Interchange, at Hazaro and the Environment Park, at Ghorghushti.

According to sources in the district administration, law enforcement agencies have made unprecedented security arrangements for the planned visit, in view of the recent acts of terrorism in the country.

The prime minister is scheduled to visit both the venues on the same day and both places seem to be under siege by a large number of law enforcement agencies, a day before the visit on Thursday.

The surrounding area, which is the constituency (NA-59) of minister of state for environment, Malik Amin Aslam, has also been put under the surveillance of the elite force, the sources maintained.

In addition to the deployment of 500 Attock police officials, additional police force was sought from other districts of the Punjab, including Chakwal, Jhelum and Rawalpindi to make foolproof security arrangements as the strength of the district police force was not enough, sources added.— Our Correspondent
