Atif shines as top seeds stay on course: National Snooker

KARACHI, March 9: Punjab qualifier Atif Mughal continued his winning streak as he whipped Sindh’s Sunil Shahani 4-1 in his penultimate group ‘E’ match of the 32nd National Snooker Championship at Karachi Gymkhana on Friday.

After registering five wins on trot, he is now slated to meet Mohammad Shahid on the concluding day of league matches on Sunday. He conceded third frame on way to winning 63-19, 58-13, 42-50, 59-17 and 68-25.

The top four seeds – Khurram Agha, Mohammad Yousuf, Naveen Perwani and Imran Shehzad – play their last league matches on Saturday. All of them have already made it to the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, two more walkovers were reported on Friday taking the tally to five in nine days.

NWFP’s Nauman Awan was awarded walkover against Punjab’s Bilal Ahmed in the first session. Similarly, Shahram Changezi earned full points when his opponent Amar failed to turn up for his match in the last session.
