HYDERABAD: Court issues notices to LUMHS VC, HR director
HYDERABAD, March 24: The Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Saturday issued notices to the vice- chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) and director of LUMHS Human Resources to file comments by April 5 on a constitutional petition filed by a lecturer.
The court has also issued notice to Additional Advocate General (AAG) Sindh Masood A. Noorani.
Dr. Syed Fida Hussain
Shah, who is working as lecturer of LUMHS, said he had a masters degree in surgery from the university in 1999 and had been posted in various wards during his service, which made him qualified for applying for assistant professor (surgery) BPS-18.
He said that he submitted required documents. Perhaps his application lacked some documents which he provided later on to the director of Human Resources.
But he received a letter dated March 16 on March 17 informing him that his form for the said post had not been short-listed because his application lacked four documents.
He said that since March
17 was Saturday he had a legal notice issued to the director of Human Resources through his counsel, a copy of which was sent to the VC as well as to the chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC), alleging the university authorities for discrimination as they did not consider his application despite the fact that he had already submitted required documents.
He said that he did not receive a call for interview till March 21 although the authorities had announced they had called an interview for the said post, which was a clear violation of his fundamental human rights.
He said that the university announced March 24 for the interview but he was not called.
He prayed the court to direct the vice-chancellor and the director of Human Resources to consider his application and place it before the selection committee.
The VC should be directed to postpone interview for the said post till the decision of his petition, he requested.
He said that he had already filed a constitutional petition about his promotion case, which had been pending decision in high court.
