Bhakkar AD&SJ quits in protest

SARGODHA, April 10: Bhakkar Additional District and Sessions Judge Qazi Waqar Ahmad has resigned and left the station over, what his colleagues claim, the ongoing judicial crisis.

Rana Wakeel Akhtar, a Punjab Bar Council member, told this correspondent that Qazi Waqar was an upright judge and quite upset about the suspension of the Supreme Court chief justice. His resignation was, therefore, an expression of resentment against the government.

Qazi Waqar could not be contacted despite repeated attempts by this correspondent. According to reports, he had proceeded to his native Pindi Gheb Town after submission of resignation on Monday evening.

The PBC member said it was another fatal blow to the government and showed that the lawyers were united for the revival of rule of law and supremacy of judiciary.
