NAWABSHAH: Protest against police over growing street crimes

NAWABSHAH, April 11: A large number of family members and relatives of late Kausar Abbas stage a demonstration against police on Wednesday in front of the press clucb carrying body of Kausar who was killed by unknown armed men late last night near Municipal Stadium Society.

Kausar Abbas, 23, general secretary of Jafria Students Organisation, was killed when he resisted the armed men’s attempt to snatch mobile phone. He was rushed to Nawabshah Medical College Hospital where he died on Wednesday.

Maulana Altaf Hussain Parhiar and Mohammad Hussain Chandio of Shia Ulema Council said that law and order situation had grown worse and street crime had shot up in the city.

They feared that it might be a target killing and warned to extend the protest if the killers were not arrested within 24 hours.

PROTEST: Dozens of villagers from Jatto Magsi village including women and children staged a demonstration near Sakrand against police for raiding their village and arresting four persons on Wednesday.

The protesters were carrying the Holy Book and raised slogans against the police.

They told journalists that Sakrand police raided their village and arrested Sanaullah Magsi, Sher Mohammad Magsi, Rasool Bux Magsi and Mohram Lai Khan Magsi. They alleged that police beat them up and looted gold ornaments and other valuables.

They said that Sanaullah and Sher Mohammad were booked in false cases of kidnapping and demanded that the Sindh chief minister provide them justice, suspend the police officials and release their arrested men.

KILLED: A woman and her daughter were killed when they were hit by a train near Daur on Wednesday.

Nazeeran, 35, wife of Azam Mashori, and her two-year-old daughter Huzooran died on the spot after they were hit by Rawalpindi-bound Hazara Express.
