DADU, April 12: The chairman of the Sindh National Front (SNF), Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, has said lives, properties and honour of the people were not safe as activities by the criminals were increasing by almost every passing day.

Addressing a public gathering at New Chowk here on Thursday evening, he said that the people were denied equal rights since independence while army ruled the country for thirty years.

He said that rulers and bureaucrats were given a free hand to indulge in corruption which was visible in the government and private departments due to wrong policies of the rulers.

He said that jobless people were committing suicides as the unemployment rate was increasing.

The SNF chief said that all doors for educated people were closed and criminals and terrorists were being appointed.

He said that a few religious women had made the rulers and government officials to run helter skelter in Islamabad where the writ of the government seems to be non-existent.

He said that if President Musharraf was not able to face onslaught of a few Maulvis in Islamabad, then how was he imposing his will on 85 million people of Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan, whose assemblies had rejected construction of Kalabagh Dam.

He said that President Musharraf was saying that he should be re-elected so that he could bring prosperity to the country but demanded an accountability of the president for the misdeeds he committed during his seven year tenure.

He said that the criminals, terrorists and dacoits were released from jails and were made ministers. He appealed to the people to unite on one platform and fight for their rights.

He said that those who were calling themselves sincere to the Sindhi people had left the people amid crisis and fled abroad who were again trying to come into power through some deal.

Vice chairman of SNF, Allah Warayo Soomro, said Sindhi people should support nationalists for restoration of their rights.

Gul Mohammad Jakhrani, General Secretary of SNF, Mohammad Ayub Shar, Kehkashan Bhurgari, Mohammad Khan Panhwar and Abdul Latif Bhurgari also spoke on the occasion.
