Nawabshah hit by gastroenteritis

NAWABSHAH, April 23: More than 40 gastroenteritis patients, including 10 children, have been admitted to the Nawabshah Medical College Hospital and other health facilities in the city during the last three days.

Gastroenteritis has spread in Nawabshah city and surrounding areas due to consumption of polluted water. In several localities of the city, sewage has been seeping into water supply pipelines as water supply and sewerage pipelines are in poor condition.

Several complaints have been made by the citizens to the Nawabshah Taluka Municipal Administration but no serious effort has been made to replace the obsolete pipelines.

Dr Mohammad Saleem Faiz, assistant professor, NMCH, told journalists that people should boil water before use and avoid eating rotten fruit or food.

ARREST: The Nawabshah police had arrested another suspect in the kidnapping case of a local trader and his friend, the DPO told Dawn.
