HYDERABAD: M. H. Panwahar buried at his farm

HYDERABAD, April 25: The mortal remains of eminent agricultural scientist, research scholar and historian M. H. Panwahar were laid to rest at his farm near Khesano Mori in Tandojam on Wednesday.

Earlier, his funeral prayers were offered at his Hyderabad residence.

A large number of people -- including veteran intellectual Ibrahim Joyo, Sindhi Adabi Board head Aijaz Mangi, Institute of Sindhology director Shoukat Hussain Shoro, Sida MD Mohammad Hashim Laghari, Sindh National Congress leader Dr Dodo Mehri, Aijaz Qureshi and Sindh Agriculture university professors – were present at the burial.

Paying tribute to Mr Panwahar, Mr Joyo said that he was a great research scholar and his services in the fields of agriculture, history and archaeology could never be forgotten.

Mr Panwahar died on Sunday but his burial was delayed to let his three sons arrive from abroad and take part into his last rites.

On Wednesday, his body was brought from the Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi, where it had been placed in mortuary.

TRANNING: Tapedars could help eliminate bonded labour besides performing an effective role in protecting the fundamental and proprietary rights of individuals by implementing the Tenancy Act in letter and spirit.

This was said by the director general of the Sindh Civil Services and Local Government Academy Tandojam, Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi, on Wed-nesday.

He was speaking at the concluding session of 15-day training programme for tapedars and supervising tapedars at the academy.

He said that the government had launched training not only of public servants in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar, Badin and Thatta districts but also ensured participation of general public and NGOs in the programmes.

He said that 575 tapedars of the above districts were being provided special training while 120 tapedars had already finished training. In addition to training in Gothabad Scheme, they were also being trained in the maintenance of revenue record, issuances of CNICs to the villagers and loan procedures.
