HYDERABAD: SU students stage sit-in

HYDERABAD, April 26: A large number of male and female students of the University of Sindh on Thursday staged a demonstration and sit-in for two hours at Zero Point in protest against delay in announcement of last semester’s results.

Student leaders Muneer Hassan, Fahad Ali and Sarfaraz Janwari said that they could not deposit examination forms for the current semester because the university authorities had still not announced last semester’s results.

They said that the university had yet to issue them marks sheets for last year’s examination. They said that the university had stopped holding special supplementary examinations and demanded that the last date for depositing examination forms should be extended and marks sheets for last year's semester examination should be issued immediately.

The protesting students dispersed peacefully after Hostel Provost Dr Mohammad Siddique Kalhoro assured them that they would be issued marks sheets within 24 hours and decision about extension of date for depositing examination forms would also be taken immediately.

Arbab Khatoon, 32, died on the spot while Bakhtawar died in the Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro.
