KHAIRPUR: Five killed in clash over water dispute

KHAIRPUR, May 2: Five persons, including two women, were injured in a clash between two groups of farmers near Sohu Kanasra in the jurisdiction of the Kotdiji police on Wednesday. The clash took place over sharing of irrigation water.

Those injured were identified as Wali Mohammad Lashari, Gada Khan, Shahzado, Mukhtiaran Mai and Ms Eisan. Wali Mohammad and Gada Khan have been admitted to the Civil Hospital.

In another clash, 10 persons were injured in Bagho Phulpoto village in the jurisdiction of the Pir Jo Goth police. Rifles, bricks and sticks were used in the clash. The motive behind clash is said to be some dispute over date palm orchards.Those injured were identified as Gulzar Ahmed, Ilyas, Ayaz, Abdul Rasheed, Faheem Ahmed, Zaheer, Nadeem, Mohammad Rafique, Shahan, Kanhar and Rustam Ali. Abdul Rasheed has been referred to the Nawabshah Hospital.

Police have registered a case against 15 persons of both the groups.

PROTEST: A number of women from Pir Bux Rajpar village, Thari Mirwah taluka, continued their protest against Sukkur police on Wednesday for third consecutive day. Protesters observed token hunger strike on the Court Road. Talking to journalists, Sharifan Rajpar that that her brother Allah Wadhayo and nephew Khalid alias Khalil have been illegally detained by the police since April 8.
