MARDAN: Nazim booked for vandalism

MARDAN, May 6: A case was registered against the nazim of Hoti union council and seven other people for smashing streetlights and damaging billboards during a protest demonstration against Pesco last week, officials said on Sunday.

The nazim, Mehmand Khan, and the seven people were booked at the Hoti police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Protesters from Hoti and Par Hoti localities took to the streets to protest against loadshedding and tried to torch a Pesco vehicle.

They smashed streetlights, billboards and signboards on the road.

Police said that the demonstration was organised by nazim Mehmand Khan who along with seven others was nominated in the case.

No arrests were made.
