Opposition to observe black day today

ISLAMABAD, May 12: Three major opposition parties on Saturday gave a call to observe a black day on Sunday and a countrywide demonstration on Monday in protest against the killing of innocent people in Karachi.

Speaking at a joint news conference here, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal president Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) acting-president Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan condemned in the strongest words what they termed the brutal murder of innocent people.

Earlier, ARD chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim announced a black day on Sunday.

They demanded setting up of a neutral caretaker government to hold elections through appointment of an independent Election Commission with the consultation and consent of opposition parties.

The leaders opined that there should be a grand national alliance based one point agenda of getting rid of Gen Musharraf’s rule.
