Farhan breezes into last four of U-17 squash

PESHAWAR, May 28: Top-seed Farhan Zaman qualified for semi-finals of the NWFP National Junior Under-17 squash championship at the PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Monday.

He outclassed Owais Khan in straight sets 9-7, 9-3, 9-7.

In the second quarter-final, Mohammad Bilal beat Asif Khan 3-1.

Bilal won the first set 9-6. He took 6-2 lead in the second set by exhibiting classic display of long rallies and powerful smashes but lost it 8-10.

Third and fourth sets were won by Bilal with scores of 9-4 and 9-5 respectively.

Mujahid Hussain outplayed Waqar Rauf 10-8, 9-4, 9-5 in straight sets to book his berth in the semi-finals.

The fourth quarter-final witnessed a thrilling battle in which Raees Khan came out triumphant against Shaheen Zaman with a close score of 3-2. The match stretched to five sets and lasted for 59 minutes. The score was 3-9, 9-3, 1-9, 9-3, 9-1.—APP
