DADU: 200,000 voters not enlisted: MNA
DADU, June 10: People’s Party Parliamentarians MNA Rafiq Ahmed Jamali has complained that names of 200,000 voters have not been registered in voter lists of the district.
Talking to journalists here on Sunday, Mr Jamali said that according to voter lists-2002, total registered voters in the district were 625,000 but now the voters from PPP majority areas had not been registered in the news lists.
He said that the new voter lists had been engineered to favour the pro- government candidates and create an unfavourable situation for the PPP in the next elections.
The MNA alleged that a NADRA mobile team was handed over to Pakistan Muslim League leaders till last August.
Bahawalpur union council nazim Saeed Ahmed said that names of 1,000 voters of Bahawalpur village had not been registered as the voter registration teams did not visit the village.
When contacted, Assistant Election Commissioner, Dadu, Syed Tanvir Haider, attributed lack of computerised National Identification Cards to non-registration of 200,000 voters. However, he advised the affected people to get their names registered as voters from 12 June and submit relevant forms to the civil judges of Dadu, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mehar, Johi and Dadu.
