KHAIRPUR: Funds for dam slammed

KHAIRPUR, June 11: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz senior vice-chairman Mujtaba Shah Rashidi has said that allocation of funds for construction of Kalabagh dam in the federal budget is a shameful act and his party it.

Talking to journalists in Pir-jo-Goth on Monday, he said that it was a threat for oppressed ‘nations, particularly Sindhi nation,’ adding that nationalist leaders could not expect any favour from the federal government regarding rights, development and betterment of Sindh and Sindhi people.

Answering a question, he said that nationalist intellectual Abdul Wahid Arisar's visit to Nine-Zero and meeting with Muttahida Qaumi Movement leaders was his personal move. He said that Loya Jirga of Pakhtoon community in Karachi after May 12 killing was a matter of concern and a threat for Sindhi people.

He said that Karachi being heart of Sindh held great importance in the history of Sindh but now Sindhi people felt that Karachi was not a part of Sindh and they lived there in an atmosphere of fear and harassment.

The Punjabi, Pakhtoon and Urdu-speaking residents of Karachi had never been sincere with Sindh and they were fighting the war of their interests, which was totally against the interests of the Sindhi ‘nation,’ Mr Rashidi said.

He said that a large number of Sindhi graduates and postgraduates were unemployed but government was suppressing this issue by raising the issues of tribal disputes in Sindh.
