Woman murdered after rape

LAHORE, June 25: A married woman was found murdered in Mustafabad on Monday. Police said early on Monday, Hidayatullah of Androon Chaubacha informed them about the blind murder of his tenant, Shahida Hanif.

Shahida, 25, working in a travel agency, had hired an upper portion of the house of Hidayat some eight days back through a property dealer.

On Sunday, Hidayat went to his in-laws along with his family. When he returned on Monday, his wife told him about the blood flowing from a drainpipe. He gathered the locals, broke open the lock of the upper portion and found Shahida dead in a pool of blood.

Police reached the spot and removed the half-naked body for autopsy.

Police said circumstantial evidence suggested rape before murder.

Police took into possession her diaries, an identity card and some letters from the spot.

They interrogated property dealer Saaba Gujjar, Mahmood of Dharampura, Mehwish, whose house was rented earlier by Shahida, a PIA employee Humayun and her husband, Waqar Ali Shah.

Mehwish told the police that she had rented top floor of her house to Shahida on the guarantee of Humayun of the same area.

Humayun said Shahida was the wife of his friend, Waqar Ali. She had married Waqar without informing her parents who lived in Arriyan Colony, Sadiqabad.

No clue to the murderers was found by the police till the filing of the report.

TORTURED TO DEATH: A boy was killed allegedly by four labourers over a trifle in the Ravi Road area on Monday.

Police said Ahmad, 15, of Khanewal was working with a vendor who used to sell vegetables in Sabzi Mandi.

Early on Monday, a labourer, Waqar, and three others were unloading a truck when Ahmad stopped them from throwing bags in front of his cart. The labourers got infuriated and started beating Ahmad as a result he sustained severe injuries.

One of the accused, Akram, hit Ahmad with a screwdriver, killing him on the spot.

Police shifted the body for autopsy and arrested three of the accused.
