200 cases of gastroenteritis in Sukkur, Nawabshah

NAWABSHAH, July 7: Gastroenteritis is on the rise in Sukkur and Nawabshah as more than 200 patients have been reported in various hospitals in the last three days.

More than 100 new cases were reported in various hospitals of Sukkur including Sukkur Civil Hospital and health centres of Pano Akil, Bachal Miani, Bagergi, Rohri, Kundrah and other areas.An official of the District Health Department Sukkur told Dawn that more than 56 new cases of gastroenteritis were reported in hospitals of the district on Friday and Saturday.

Shabdomal, statistics officer, Medical Superintendent Office, Sukkur Civil Hospital, said that some 50 cases were reported in Sukkur Civil Hospital on Friday and Saturday.

A doctor in the Sukkur Civil Hospital requesting anonymity, told Dawn that most of the patients were being sent back home after providing medicines and a few were being admitted in wards.

Some 100 cases were reported in Nawabshah Medical College Hospital, Sakrand Taluka Hospital, RHC Qazi Ahmed, Bucheri, Daur, Bandhi, Karam Ali Jamali, Daulatpur, Shahpur Jehanian and others health centres of the district during last three days.

Dr Saleem Faiz, Assistant Professor, Medicine Unit-I NMCH, said that the number of cases has increased after the rains.
