PTF to launch junior tennis programme
KARACHI, July 10: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) will soon launch a Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) programme across the country aimed at encouraging boys and girls in the age group of 6 – 14 to adopt the game.
The programme is part of International Tennis Federation (ITF) which has recently send equipments – mini tennis nets, mini rackets and balls – to the PTF in this regard.
Pakistan is among a couple of other countries chosen by the world governing body of the game for the proposed programme already held twice in the past.
The PTF has directed its three affiliated units – Sindh, Punjab and Islamabad – to appoint coordinators for the basic grooming of teenagers, an official of the PTF told Dawn on Tuesday.
They should be Level 2 or 3 coaches or equivalent with good playing level, organizational and administrative skills and reasonable educational background.
The coordinators will be responsible to approach educational institutions for inviting players.
However, they will not be entitled for any remuneration but PTF will have no objection if they charge fee from schools or individuals.
