Nazim, friend shot dead in Kohat

KOHAT, March 7: The Nazim of Jangle Khel Urban-2 union council and his friend were gunned down by a rival group over money dispute, in Barkatullah Mohalla on Wednesday night, police said.

Nazim Gul Zaman Shinwari and his friend, Hasnain Banoori, were invited by the rival party for a dinner and to settle an old money dispute. As soon as they finished the meal Shakir from the rival party allegedly sprayed them with Kalashnikov bullets. The accused fled the scene and has been declared proclaimed offender.

The accused, before killing the Nazim and his friend, asked other members of the jirga and the driver to leave the drawing room where they were sitting.

The driver told the police that the Nazim became furious when Shakir expressed his inability to pay back the money following which the deceased made an unique demand that if the accused had no money he should be given the hand of his sister.

Following this, the accused asked him to wait and agreed to marry his sister to him but came back with a Kalashnikov and killed them on the spot. Each deceased got dozens of bullet injuries.

The city police have registered a case and sent various teams to tribal areas for the arrest of the accused besides tightening checking on all the outlets from Kohat.
