HYDERABAD: Capacity of pumps being doubled

HYDERABAD, July 20: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil said on Friday that the capacity of all the pumping stations had been increased by 300 per cent under short term planning at a cost of Rs500 million.

He said while inaugurating 20-inch diameter pipeline in UC-3 late on Thursday night that the pumps’ capacity would further be increased by 600 per cent before the next year's rainy season.

He said that successive governments in the past had failed to take effective measures to protect the low lying areas of Latifabad which had resulted in huge losses in the last year's heavy rains.

He said that following heavy rains last year, a short term plan was prepared with an stipulated cost of Rs500 million.
