HYDERABAD: Govt asked to stop political appointments

HYDERABAD, July 28: The Sindh government has been condemned for making appointments on political basis with an advice to desist from distributing jobs between its coalition partners.

The demand was made by the Sindh Employees United Alliance and the APCA Family Planning Department Sindh, on Saturday.

Organiser of the alliance Peeral Dayo, President APCA Family Planning Sindh Mohammad Luqman Bughio and others addressing a press conference at the press club demanded making appointments on merit basis with 50 per cent job quota for the children of serving, retired and deceased employees.

They alleged that a cell had been established to distribute employment for which lists were prepared and handed over to secretaries of various departments.

They said only lip service was being paid to merit and if employment could not be given on merit then there was no need of holding interviews.

Waderas who always remained in power had looted the institutions and people during the last 60 years they said and added that due to political interference, performance of government departments had deteriorated with people losing faith in them.

They further demanded regularisation of contract employees appointed from 1998 to 2002 as directed by the federal government to Punjab, the NWFP and Sindh.

They said while Punjab and the NWFP had regularised services of their contract employees, those in Sindh were yet to see the light of the day and called for implementing instructions of the federal government.

Regarding those working on deputation, they demanded their repatriation to parent departments to protect the rights of senior employees.

They called upon the Sindh chief minister to do away with political appointments and give priority to the children of in-service, retired and deceased employees.

They also appealed to political and social welfare organisations to support their just demands.
