Oldest basketball court gets a facelift
KARACHI, Aug 1: The famous Arambagh floodlit basketball court is getting a facelift after the erection of six new poles on Tuesday night. Five of the six poles had fallen due to windstorm and rain last month while one was partially damaged. Luckily, a number of players and officials who were attending a coaching camp at the time escaped unhurt.
Nazim Sadar Town, Mohammad Dilawar, took a serious note after Dawn reported the incident and ordered the replacement of poles.
Two officials of Sadar Town supervised the job at the venue and the lights were finally opened on Wednesday to give a new lease of life to the 50-year old facility.
Secretary, Karachi City District Amateur Basketball Association (KCDABA), former international Abdul Nasir has thanked the town nazim for his keen interest in carrying out the job in a short span of time.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Amateur Basketball Federation (PABF) has planned to organise an All Pakistan departmental tournament at Arambagh in collaboration with KCDABA in the near future.
